Job Overview
Trinity Consulting & Counseling is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and systems-minded Contractual 1099 Behavioral Health Revenue Cycle Specialist to support the development and management of our billing operations.
This is a foundational role within a growing behavioral health organization. The selected candidate will not only manage billing, but also play a key role in developing, organizing, and optimizing our billing program from the ground up.
In addition, this role includes supervision and guidance of billing interns, including creating structured to-do lists, workflows, and training support tasks.

Key ResponsibilitiesRevenue Cycle Management
• Manage full-cycle billing for behavioral health services
• Review and accurately code services using CPT and ICD-10
• Submit and track claims for:
• Indiana Medicaid (MCOs required)
• Commercial insurance providers
• Monitor and resolve claim denials and rejections
• Perform A/R follow-up and maintain aging reports
• Post payments and reconcile accounts
Program Development & Systems Building
• Develop and implement structured billing workflows and procedures
• Identify inefficiencies and improve billing processes
• Assist with transition from SimplePractice to Jane App
• Support the creation of scalable systems for future growth
Intern Supervision & Training
• Supervise billing interns completing externships
• Develop to-do lists, task workflows, and training agendas
• Ensure interns are properly trained in entry-level billing support tasks
• Maintain appropriate supervision and compliance standards
Collaboration & Compliance
• Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation supports billing
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid, and insurance regulations
• Stay current with billing, coding, and payer guideline updates
QualificationsRequired
• Minimum 3+ years of behavioral health billing or revenue cycle experience
• Direct experience with Indiana Medicaid billing (REQUIRED)
• Experience with commercial insurance billing
• Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding for behavioral health services
• Proven experience with denial management and A/R follow-up
• Experience with EHR systems (SimplePractice preferred; Jane App a plus)
• Ability to work independently and build structured systems
Preferred
• Experience with DCS/HCBS billing
• Experience with EHR transitions or system setup
• Prior experience supervising or training support staff or interns
• Experience working in a growing or startup practice
Compensation
• $25–$35/hour (1099) based on experience
• Approximately 10 hours per week to start, with growth in hours as the organization expands
• Opportunity to transition into performance-based compensation (3%–5% of collections) as systems and revenue scale
