Advocacy in Action: Legislative and Policy Analyst (Pro Bono)
Are you a policy enthusiast or legal professional looking to use your analytical "superpowers" for a greater cause? The Veteran Project Manager Mentor Alliance (VPMMA) is seeking a Legislative and Policy Analyst to serve as a strategic sentinel for our organization. In this high-impact role, you will ensure our Executive Board remains at the forefront of nonprofit governance and veteran advocacy by translating complex legal landscapes into actionable intelligence.
As a pro bono contributor, you are not just a researcher—you are a guardian of the VPMMA's mission, ensuring our "Alliance Heroes" are supported by an organization that is legally robust and strategically agile.
Your Strategic Impact

• Policy "Stress Tests": Review and refine internal VPMMA policies—such as data privacy and volunteer conduct—to ensure they align with evolving best practices.
• Strategic Briefings: Identify one "Risk" and one "Opportunity" in the current policy landscape to brief the Board during monthly touchpoints.
• Knowledge Management: Maintain the VPMMA knowledge base with current templates and research to ensure continuity for our 100% volunteer-run team.
Who You Are
• We are looking for a dedicated analyst who can distill complexity into clarity:
• The Researcher: Ideally possessing or pursuing a degree in Public Policy, Law, or Political Science.
• The Architect: Capable of synthesizing intricate legal language into concise bullet points for executive decision-making.
• The Independent Lead: A self-starter with strong time-management skills who can deliver high-quality insights remotely.
• The Advocate: Genuinely interested in the intersection of veteran reintegration and professional project management.
The Rewards of Pro Bono Service
• VPMMA is committed to a mutually beneficial experience for every volunteer:
• Professional Pedigree: Enhance your resume with experience in nonprofit compliance and legislative research.
• Executive Networking: Connect directly with nonprofit leaders and legal professionals within the veteran-support space.
• Skill Mastery: Gain access to specialized training materials and Google Certificates on Coursera to further your career.
• Mission Fulfillment: Directly contribute to the legal integrity and strategic direction of an organization that empowers veterans to thrive in civilian careers.
• Position Details
• Type: Volunteer / 100% Remote.
• Directorate: Executive Board (Direct Support).
• Reporting Structure: Direct report to the President and the Executive Board.
• Term: A one-year commitment to ensure the stability of our strategic initiatives.
