We are hiring for an Agile Software Manager at Vantor. The role will join the software engineering group that develops and maintains the Mission Control System (MCS) domain of the Vantor Ground System used to operate our constellation of earth observation satellites. The role reports to the MCS Director and oversees 1-2 Agile teams organized by functional domains, examples of which include Command & Control to the spacecraft and Downlink & Distribution of data from the spacecraft. This position will be in the Westminster, CO office three days per week and has the option to work remotely two days per week. Responsibilities • Oversee activities of 1-2 Agile development teams. These are cross-functional teams composed of a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Software Developers, Operational Engineers, and are largely self-directed on a day-to-day basis to ensure deliverable commitments are met. Teams are responsible for new feature development as well as on-going system maintenance. • With day-to-day task assignments handled within the teams, the Agile Manager is tasked with managing higher level strategic goals, including but not limited to: • High level allocation of resources to new feature development versus paying down historical technical debt. Knowledge to make these decisions is gained by participating in daily operational standups to review system issues, on-going discussions with architects, etc. • Risk mitigation within team via knowledge and task cross training, etc. • Participate in staff recruitment, performance assessment, salary, training, career development and recognition/disciplinary actions. • Coordinate vendor contracts, deliveries and schedule with affected company parties. • Continued refinement of the software development methodologies and tools by the organization. Minimum Qualifications: • Must be a U.S. Citizen • Must be willing and able to obtain security clearance from the United States Government • B.S. in Techncial Discipline (Computer Science degree preferred) • Minimum of 10 years overall experience in a professional software engineering capacity. • Strong management, analytical, and written/oral communication skills. • Program and project management experience. • Familiarity with an Agile or SAFe software development methodology. Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of micro-services based systems running within an AWS ecosystem, continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD), and development operations (devops). • 5 years of software engineering management experience, preferably in organizations using agile team-based practices. • Experience with operational support of a complex microservice based system Pay Transparency: In support of pay transparency at Vantor, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings. The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range. • The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $142,000.00 - $236,000.00 annually. For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
