The Associate Benefits Analyst supports the Employee Benefits team by delivering administrative, technical, and analytical assistance, contributing to client deliverables and ensuring data accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Supports data entry, census tracking, and file audits
- Assists with creating and maintaining spreadsheets, templates, and documents
- Provides data support and participates in team meetings
- Assist with benchmarking, vendor grids, and the development of communication strategies for Market Analysis
- Assists with providing underwriting services and technical support
- Analyzes benefits and claims data for Market Analysis, including interpreting census data and contribution modeling
- Organizes carrier and vendor bids, follows up on late or missing submissions, and maintains client databases in internal systems
- Reviews insurance bids for compliance with specifications, identifying key differences in bids, and maintaining client databases within internal systems
- Supports the RFP process, including reporting results to carrier partners/vendors and negotiating rates
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Skills
- High School / GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education & experience
- Must hold a valid CA Life Agent license or will obtain (within first 6 months)
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Computer Skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, advanced skills in Excel; Project Management software and Database software preferred
- Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry
- Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization
- Ability to effectively work with a team and coach others in developing their skills and abilities
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages
- Ability to ready, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Problem Solving: Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy
- Bachelor's degree preferred
