Workday Internal Jobs Site for Students Position Title: Athletics Fitness Staff Job Category: Student Hourly Job Profile: Student Help Job Summary: Athletics Fitness Staff supports the daily operations of the Sports and Activity Center (SAC), including facility operations, equipment services, fitness center oversight, and external event support. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for student-athletes, campus recreation users, and guests utilizing the facility for rentals and special events. Our athletic department sponsors 15 NCAA Division II varsity sports competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). In addition to varsity athletics, the SAC serves club sports, intramural programs, and a variety of external rentals. This position reports to various athletics staff members based on departmental needs and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends. Facility Operations • Maintain a safe and functional environment by ensuring equipment meets NCAA, institutional, and public safety standards • Assist with facility policies and procedures, including access control, emergency action plans, and standard operating procedures • Support preventative maintenance and overall facility readiness Equipment & Issue Room • Manage daily operations of the Issue Room, including equipment distribution, collection, and inventory tracking • Launder and prepare athletic apparel for varsity teams and practices • Enforce facility and equipment policies in alignment with university standards • Assist with locker assignments, equipment setup, and preparation for practices and facility use Fitness Center Operations • Support SAC membership sales and renewals • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness areas • Provide excellent customer service to all facility users Additional Duties • Perform other duties as assigned by athletics administration and operations staff Qualifications • Strong communication and customer service skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented • Interest in athletics, recreation, or fitness preferred Physical Demands • Ability to lift, carry, push, and move equipment and supplies • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity • Ability to operate basic facility and fitness equipment Key Job Responsibilities: Department: Athletics Compensation: $11.25 per hour Required Qualifications: · Currently enrolled at UW Parkside. · Pursuing a degree in Sports Management (or related field) · Ability to demonstrate strong skills in leadership, motivation of staff and good verbal/written communications. · Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing longrange program improvements. · Ability to work independently. · Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and SAC members. • Ability to collaborate with other student employees effectively. • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Preferred Qualifications: · Prefer knowledge of CPR, AED and First Aid. · Qualify for work study financial aid assistance. · Previous experience working within an athletic facility/event management or comparable work environment · High school diploma and actively working toward a college degree How to Apply: To apply, click the Apply button at the top of this page.
