We are currently looking for a Billing Assistant to join a US-based provider of ABA therapy services. This role is ideal for someone with experience in US medical billing who enjoys problem-solving, working with insurance claims, and ensuring billing accuracy.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (3:00 PM – 12:00 AM South African time – subject to daylight savings).
- Public Holidays: This role requires working on both South African and U.S. public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA).
- Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and wired Ethernet capability is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
- Power Backup: Reliable backup required to manage load shedding or outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
- Work Environment: Fully remote.
Job Responsibilities:
- Submit and process billing claims for Medicaid and private insurance providers.
- Bill therapy session hours accurately through the Waystar clearinghouse.
- Investigate and resolve denied claims by identifying the reason for denial.
- Contact insurance companies to obtain claim information and resolve billing issues.
- Correct and resubmit denied claims in a timely manner.
- Assist with provider and company credentialing with insurance companies.
- Ensure clinicians remain credentialed with the appropriate insurance providers.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with billing procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience in US medical billing, specifically submitting or processing claims to US insurance providers.
- Experience using Waystar or CentralReach (experience with both is highly advantageous).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with insurance companies.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
