About the Position
Milestone Bank is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Officer – Equipment Leasing (Mid‑Ticket, Broker Channel) to support the growth and optimization of the bank’s leasing portfolio. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing referral‑based relationships, with an emphasis on brokers, as well as financial institutions, accounting firms, investors, and other strategic partners.
The focus of this position is to source and manage high‑quality referral opportunities while maintaining control of the underwriting, structuring, and execution process. This individual plays a key role in advancing the bank’s leasing strategy, ensuring strong portfolio performance, and supporting long‑term profitability and risk management.
The ideal candidate will bring an established network and book of business, primarily within equipment leasing brokers and referral partners, to support the generation of high‑quality opportunities aligned with Milestone Bank’s credit appetite and leasing strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Establish and maintain strong referral relationships with equipment leasing brokers, non‑bank financial institutions, accounting firms, banks and other strategic partners (“Parties”) to generate mid‑ticket equipment leasing opportunities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for broker and partner referrals, ensuring Milestone Bank maintains control over the underwriting, structuring, pricing, and approval process.
• Evaluate referred transactions to ensure alignment with the bank’s credit appetite, leasing strategy, and portfolio objectives.
• Strong understanding of commercial credit fundamentals, including borrower risk, collateral evaluation, and lease structure, with the ability to communicate credit expectations clearly to referral partners.
• Negotiate economic terms, program parameters, and referral agreements with Parties, as applicable.
• Manage the end‑to‑end broker and in-direct relationships and referral execution process, including intake, pricing coordination, documentation, and closing.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams—including credit, legal, operations, and leasing—to ensure timely and accurate execution of transactions.
• Conduct ongoing market and industry analysis to identify trends, opportunities, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks within the mid‑ticket equipment leasing space.
• Assess and mitigate risks associated with referred and executed transactions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Promote high‑quality referrals by setting clear expectations with referral partners regarding credit standards, documentation requirements, and transaction structure.
• Partner with the SVP of Leasing, CFO, and CEO to support portfolio balance, concentration management, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Monitor market conditions and adjust referral strategies and partner engagement accordingly.
• Ensure all transactions are properly documented, compliant with bank policy, and supported by appropriate approvals.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with third-party originations within leasing, particularly involving mid-ticket transactions.
• Strong understanding of lease financing, capital markets, and financial analysis.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing leasing and financial institutions.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and market analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable leasing strategies.
• Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, evolving financial environment.

This is a hybrid or remote position.
