Position Overview We are hiring a CDL-A Lead Driver / Operations Driver to serve as a critical operational leader within our linehaul network. This is not a standard driving role. You will be responsible for: ✅ Ensuring all scheduled runs are covered and executed reliably ✅ Acting as the primary operational support resource during off-hours and high-demand situations ✅ Making real-time decisions to maintain continuity across the fleet This is a hybrid role combining: • driving • operational control • real-time problem-solving You will function as a lead operator on the ground, not just a backup driver. Core Objective (Non-Negotiable) Ensure zero missed runs and maintain consistent, safe, and reliable fleet operations. Key Responsibilities Driving & Coverage (Primary Responsibility) • Execute assigned and backup FedEx linehaul runs safely and on schedule • Provide immediate coverage for call-outs, vacations, and disruptions • Maintain full DOT compliance and safe driving practices Operational Control & Execution • Ensure all scheduled runs are fully staffed and operational at all times • Take ownership of real-time operational decisions, including driver reassignment and issue resolution • Maintain constant awareness of run status across Syracuse and Lehigh Valley operations Night & Off-Hour Operations • Provide coverage during overnight dispatch windows and non-standard hours • Respond immediately to: • delays • breakdowns • dispatch issues • Maintain communication with drivers and terminals to protect service reliability Driver Coordination • Communicate directly with drivers to resolve issues quickly and effectively • Assist with scheduling adjustments and coverage planning when needed • Support onboarding, ride-alongs, and route familiarization Incident & Exception Management • Respond to incidents, safety events, and service disruptions in real time • Follow up with drivers and ensure issues are documented and addressed • Maintain calm, decisive action during high-pressure situations Fleet & Maintenance Support • Identify early signs of mechanical or safety issues • Coordinate with maintenance vendors as needed • Support PM preparation and fleet readiness • Assist with equipment rotation and operational planning System Execution • Monitor and respond to ELD, telematics, and VEDR alerts • Ensure operational tasks and alerts are acknowledged and resolved • Support overall safety compliance and operational discipline Requirements • Valid CDL-A License • 2+ years OTR or linehaul driving experience • Clean driving record • Strong communication skills and decision-making ability • Ability to operate independently in time-sensitive, high-pressure environments • High level of reliability, accountability, and professionalism Preferred Qualifications • FedEx Linehaul experience • Experience handling breakdowns, dispatch issues, or operational coordination • Mechanical awareness (preferred, not required) • Interest in growing into operations or leadership roles Compensation & Incentives • $1,200 – $1,800/week (based on experience and role fit) • Performance bonuses tied to: • run reliability • safety outcomes • operational execution • Additional incentives for: • emergency coverage • extended assignments • high-demand periods Role Expectations (Important) This role: • does not follow a fixed schedule • requires availability during nights, weekends, and emergency situations • requires independent decision-making and accountability This is a high-responsibility position suited for candidates who: • take ownership • remain composed under pressure • want to be part of building a strong operation Growth Opportunity This position is designed as a pathway into leadership: Lead Driver → Operations Lead → Fleet Manager You will gain direct exposure to: • fleet operations • dispatch mechanics • safety systems • scaling a multi-hub operation Why Join Ravenhill • Stable and growing operation • High-responsibility, high-impact role • Opportunity to grow into leadership • Technology-enabled workflows (Motive, analytics, automation) • Performance-driven, no-nonsense environment Apply Now If you are a CDL-A driver who: • wants more responsibility • wants to move into operations • wants to be part of building something long-term We want to hear from you.
