We’re early, growing quickly, and backed by strong believers. Now, we’re looking for a hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our engineering vision and build the AI-first infrastructure that will power the next generation of education.

About the Role

As CTO, you will own the technical strategy and lead all aspects of engineering execution across our platform. You will work closely with the CEO and product teams to build scalable, AI-driven learning experiences that delight professors and students.

You’ll lead a small but talented team of engineers, make key architectural decisions, and play a direct role in developing product features. You’ll also drive our AI strategy, from internal tooling to user-facing automation and personalization.

This is a high-impact leadership role with real code, real product input, and real ownership.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design and development of Classavo’s AI-first platform and infrastructure

• Work closely with product, design, and GTM teams to turn ideas into shipped features

• Build and scale a distributed engineering team across front-end, back-end, and AI/ML

• Architect and maintain a secure, reliable, and scalable cloud-based platform (AWS)

• Drive adoption of AI across the product including recommendation systems, content generation, grading tools, chatbot interfaces, and more

• Establish and enforce modern engineering best practices and technical decision-making frameworks

• Stay hands-on with the codebase, especially in early stages

• Evaluate new technologies and AI models for integration into our roadmap

• Help shape the company’s broader strategy through leadership team collaboration

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience leading engineering teams at a fast-growing startup or product-driven company

• Deep full-stack experience with modern web technologies (we use React, Django, and PostgreSQL)

• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and system reliability

• Demonstrated experience applying AI or machine learning models in production, especially in personalization, automation, or content generation

• Passion for building user-centric products and solving real customer problems

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and business conversations

• Builder’s mindset with high agency and bias toward action

• Bonus: Experience in EdTech, publishing systems, LMS integrations, or educational data modeling
