The Claims Adjuster Trainee position is designed to provide a foundational understanding of insurance claims handling, focusing on customer service interactions and the claims process from initial filing to resolution. Responsibilities - Initiates the first notice of loss using Safety’s proprietary software programs - Investigates, analyzes, and assesses liability and damages by collecting information from insureds, claimants, and witnesses - Interprets and applies policy coverages under Safety’s various insurance policies - Utilizes multiple software programs and databases to process and adjust claims - Implements appropriate surcharges according to Massachusetts General Laws - Identifies opportunities for subrogation - Cultivates and maintains relationships with Safety’s agents through clear communication and strong customer service skills - Establishes timely and adequate claims reserves in line with Safety’s guidelines - Evaluates, negotiates, and secures equitable settlements for claims submitted - Detects, investigates, and refers potential fraudulent claims to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) - Delivers excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues within established authority levels - Performs additional activities as required Skills - A college degree or insurance-related coursework/experience is required - Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary - Excellent communication skills are essential - Ability to cooperate and work effectively within a team environment Benefits - 3 weeks accrued paid time off + paid holidays each year - Health insurance (medical, dental, vision) - Annual 401(k) Employer Contribution (up to 8% of your base salary) - 100% tuition reimbursement - Free on-site fitness center - Complimentary coffee and breakfast service - Hybrid work schedules - Working Advantage Discount Program - Employee Assistance Program - …and much more!
