As college athletics enters a new phase shaped by NIL, growing demands for transparency, and the momentum behind the "SCORE Act" Federal Bill, the need for credible, data-backed athlete valuation is becoming increasingly important.
Recent NCAA changes have also moved the market toward clearer rules, direct financial benefits for student-athletes, and more structured oversight of third-party NIL activity. We are building the AI scoring layer for this new era, and we are looking for a Co-Founder & Head of Athlete Relations to help us deepen athlete trust, expand industry relationships, and shape how our platform connects athlete visibility, value, and opportunity.
About Power NIL
Power NIL is building the business infrastructure for the NIL marketplace—helping athletes, collectives, universities, agencies, and brands turn NIL partnerships into a scalable, trackable, repeatable growth engine.
We’re early, moving fast, and building a category-defining company. Power NIL is operating on a ~$28M internal company valuation framework as we scale traction, partnerships, and revenue.
The Opportunity - Who We Need
We’re looking for a high-impact partner, ideally a former athlete, league executive, agent, or sports business insider who knows this world and wants to be part of building what’s next.
This is a founding-team business development role for someone who understands both sponsorship economics and NIL compliance realities—and can sell across the full NIL stakeholder map.
Power NIL sits at the intersection of revenue + compliance. That means winning deals isn’t only about pitching—it’s about navigating real-world nuance: state-by-state rules, school policies, contract constraints, brand safety requirements, approval workflows, and disclosure expectations. You’ll translate complexity into clarity and help partners move faster with confidence.
If you’ve lived sponsorships and partnerships—and you can speak NIL in a way that makes stakeholders feel safe, fast, and aligned—you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Do as Co-Founder and Head of Business Development:
Own Growth & Partnerships
• Build and own a revenue pipeline across NIL stakeholders: collectives, universities/athletic departments, compliance staff, athlete reps, agencies, and brands
• Source opportunities through outbound, warm intros, events, and channel relationships
• Lead deal cycles end-to-end: discovery → offer packaging → negotiation → close → expansion/renewals
• Develop repeatable GTM motions: ICP, positioning, pricing/tiers, outreach scripts, partner playbooks, and referral loops
Sell “Compliance-Forward” NIL Solutions
• Run stakeholder-specific discovery (each has different incentives): risk reduction, speed-to-approval, athlete outcomes, brand safety, reporting, and renewal leverage
• Navigate NIL workflows and constraints: disclosures, approvals, documentation, brand usage rights, contract terms, and policy boundaries
• Build partnership packages that reduce friction for schools and brands while improving deal velocity and close rates
• Align the right stakeholders early (compliance, legal, athlete services, marketing, collectives) to avoid late-stage deal blockers
Represent Power NIL in the NIL Ecosystem
• Be a front-line ambassador for Power NIL with credibility across sports business and NIL
• Attend and leverage conferences, campus-adjacent networks, and partner meetings
• Build lightweight sales enablement: one-pagers, decks, case studies, objection handling, and ROI narratives
• Collaborate closely with the founder to shape strategy, partnerships, and roadmap priorities based on market feedback
You likely have:
• 5+ years in sports sponsorships / partnerships / sports business development
• Experience selling to or working with: brands, agencies, rights holders, universities/athletics, athlete marketing, collectives
• Strong negotiation instincts (you understand value, packaging, activation, and renewal strategy)
• Comfort with ambiguity + high-velocity execution
• Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders (brand leads, agency principals, AD staff, collective operators)
• The ability to sell to risk-aware stakeholders (compliance/legal/athletics) and growth stakeholders (brands/agencies/collectives)
Bonus if you have:
• Direct NIL experience (collectives, university NIL workflows, athlete representation, campus ecosystems)
• Familiarity with compliance-adjacent operations: deal workflows, disclosures, contract tools, approvals
• A strong footprint in the sports business community (events, partnerships groups, industry relationships)
What Success Looks Like (First 60–90 Days)
• Clear ICP + target lists built acro
