Mullins Law Firm is a solo litigation practice seeking an experienced remote Legal Assistant or Paralegal on a contract basis. You will work directly with attorney Charles R. Mullins to support active litigation matters in both state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft litigation documents including complaints, motions, and pleadings
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests, interrogatories, and requests for production
• Organize, review, and manage document production
• Conduct electronic filings in state and federal courts (CM/ECF and state e-filing portals)
• Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and docket entries
• Communicate with courts, clients, and opposing counsel as directed
• Perform legal research and cite-check as needed
Required Qualifications
• Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience
• Proficiency with CM/ECF federal e-filing
• Experience with state court e-filing systems
• Strong drafting and proofreading skills
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting a solo or small firm attorney
• Familiarity with Clio, MyCase, or similar case management software
• Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
• Experience with discovery management platforms
• Strong organizational and communication skills
Work Arrangement
• Fully remote — work from anywhere within the United States
• Contract / freelance engagement — flexible hours based on caseload
• Availability expected for time-sensitive court deadlines
• Must have reliable internet, computer, and a confidential workspace
