Controller Marketing Firm | Remote (MA,RI, CT, FL -based) | Leadership Role About the Role We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for our growing marketing firm. This role combines day-to-day accounting ownership with high-level financial leadership and close partnership with the CEO and executive team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, project-based professional services environment. This is a remote position, with occasional in-person meetings with the CEO and/or Leadership team. Candidates must be based in Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Florida. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations • Own and manage all accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, credit card management, revenue recognition, and general ledger • Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial packages • Enforce internal controls and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures • Serve as Admin/Super User for the firm's ERP system Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management • Prepare the annual budget and ongoing monthly forecasts • Manage cash flow and maintain strong banking relationships • Support financial planning and analysis to guide business decisions Tax & Compliance • Prepare all documentation required for annual tax returns and coordinate with external tax advisors • Manage all insurance contracts, including annual Workers' Compensation audits Contracts & Risk Management • Review, negotiate, and/or draft vendor agreements • Review and sign client contracts, ensuring financial and risk considerations are addressed Leadership & Strategic Partnership • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and leadership team • Act as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to overall company strategy • Support teams across the organization with ad hoc financial analysis and requests Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with Project Management and Client Services teams to manage the financial aspects of client and vendor relationships • Ensure accurate project costing, billing, and profitability tracking Qualifications & Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required) • CPA is a plus • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller • Excel Super user • Experience with systems implementation • Strong understanding of revenue recognition and project-based accounting (professional services or agency experience preferred) • Proven ability to operate in a hands-on role while also providing strategic financial leadership • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments Work Location • Remote role • Occasional in-person meetings with leadership team (maximum twice per month) Must be a local employee based in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut or Florida Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
