Position Summary Position Summary: The salary range for this position is $112,282.00 to $138,921.00, with most candidates starting at $128,235.00. This is a full-time, overtime-ineligible, administrative-exempt position with the Pierce College District and is eligible for up to two days of remote work per week. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Learning & Student Success and requires regular and consistent attendance. As a leader at Pierce College, an innovative and equity-focused community college dedication to helping all students achieve their academic and professional goals, the Dean is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of the division's instructional programs in order to achieve student success outcomes in support of Pierce College's mission, vision, and values. The Dean provides leadership, oversight, support, and evaluation for faculty and staff within assigned disciplines and programs, including managing the development and assessment of curricula and programs. Responsibilities include engaging broad data sets in a highly collaborative environment to advance strategic thinking and innovation in academic planning, budgeting, and intentional action. The Dean is an advocate for the district within internal and external groups. The Instructional Dean engages faculty in shared governance and encourages innovation and professional development in both academic and administrative areas of Pierce College. Essential Functions Essential Functions Supervision • Provides leadership, oversight, and evaluation for faculty and staff within assigned disciplines or programs, and manages the development and assessment of curricula, programs, and degrees. • Provides supervision for faculty and staff within assigned disciplines or programs (recruit, select, train, schedule, and discipline) and provides recommendations for similar actions to reporting supervisors. • Promotes professional development and supports a collaborative climate which fosters innovation and academic excellence and advances equity, diversity, and inclusion. • Supervises course scheduling, faculty assignments, and instructional delivery. Resolves conflicts in division area in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, the Negotiated Agreement, and Pierce College policies and practices. • Resolves complaints arising from division activities, which may include participating in the process of collective bargaining contract grievances.
