Debate Panelist - Monthly Political Podcast

About the position OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) aims to reduce partisanship and promote effective solutions to America’s challenges, powered by America’s youth. They host a media outlet, produce educational materials, and facilitate dialogue to improve the country. Our National Conversation is developing a non-partisan solution platform for American policy issues. The organization is seeking 3-4 skilled on-air debaters to join its monthly political podcast. Panelists will present well-researched, persuasive arguments on political issues and participate in structured debates via Zoom. These debates will be edited and posted on social media platforms. There may be prior collaboration with the production team for prep and fact-checking. This is a recurring monthly role requiring reliable availability, commitment to show guidelines, and support of the nonprofit’s mission. Depending on ideas, availability, and success, multiple debates may be held each month. This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, requiring applicants to be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and maintain a high level of communication. The preferred duration for these duties is at least six (6) months. This is an unpaid, volunteer position. Responsibilities • Present well-researched, persuasive arguments on political issues • Participate in structured debates via Zoom • Collaborate with the production team on prep and fact-checking (may be required) • Maintain reliable availability for monthly commitments • Commit to show guidelines • Support the nonprofit’s mission • Help promote episodes Requirements • Prior podcasting or broadcast experience (hosting, co-hosting, producing) • Strong on-air presence and ability to engage listeners (charisma, storytelling) • Journalism, political science, law, public policy, or related academic/professional background • Experience moderating or adjudicating debates • Proficient use of the English language (reading, writing, speaking) • Comfortable coordinating in a remote environment • Expected to maintain a high level of communication Benefits • Professional networking • Resume-building experience Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
