This is a remote position. DFM Engineer Intern (Mechanical Engineering) – Remote Company: Trustbridge Engineering (a division of Vulcury LLC) Location: Remote (India-based candidates preferred) Internship Duration: 12 weeks Conversion: Potential full-time opportunity based on performance Shift: Late-day India shift (afternoon start to overlap with U.S. working hours) Internship Type: Paid About Trustbridge Engineering Trustbridge Engineering, a division of Vulcury LLC, provides design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and engineering solutions for global clients across industrial, consumer, automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors. Our team, led by an India-based senior engineer, works closely with U.S.-based clients to convert ideas into manufacturable, production-ready designs. We focus on real-world engineering—balancing performance, cost, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing constraints. This internship is built for engineers who want practical exposure to how designs actually get manufactured. About the Internship We are looking for a DFM Engineer Intern who is eager to learn how engineering decisions translate to real production outcomes. You will work directly with the Head Engineer on active client projects and internal initiatives. This role goes beyond drafting—you’ll develop an understanding of manufacturing feasibility, process selection, tolerances, and cost-driven design trade-offs. This is a 12-week paid internship, with the possibility of a full-time role for strong performers. Key Responsibilities Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Review and develop mechanical designs with a focus on manufacturability Apply DFM/DFA principles to improve part design, cost efficiency, and quality Assist in refining designs based on manufacturing constraints and feedback Prepare clear, production-ready engineering documentation Engineering Analysis & Validation Support basic simulations or engineering checks using ANSYS or similar tools Assist with tolerance analysis, material selection, and design assumptions Help identify design risks and recommend improvements Manufacturing & Process Understanding Research and evaluate manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal, casting, molding, etc.) Support decisions related to materials, finishes, and processes Assist with supplier- and process-related research when required Collaboration & Communication Work closely with senior engineers on real client problems Participate in virtual meetings with U.S.-based clients and internal teams Communicate design intent, changes, and assumptions clearly in a remote setup Contribute to improving internal engineering workflows and standards Internship Structure Duration: 12 weeks (paid) Mentorship: Regular guidance and feedback from experienced engineers Growth Path: Opportunity for a full-time role based on performance and business needs Requirements Who Should Apply Required Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Strong fundamentals in mechanical design and manufacturing processes Basic understanding of DFM concepts and real-world production constraints Experience with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar) Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Good written and spoken English for professional collaboration Preferred / Bonus Exposure to DFM/DFA, GD&T, or tolerance analysis Familiarity with ANSYS or other simulation tools Prior academic projects, internships, or industry experience involving mechanical design Curiosity about manufacturing, cost optimization, and production scalability Requirements Personal computer capable of running engineering software Required CAD / simulation software installed Reliable internet connection Benefits What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience with live client engineering work Practical exposure to DFM and production-focused design Understanding of how engineering decisions impact cost, quality, and timelines Collaboration with international clients and teams A strong foundation for a career in manufacturing-focused engineering
