- Familiarity with centers, running records and portfolios
- Proper certification by the Michigan Department of Education
- Certified to teach lower elementary all subjects (grades K-5)
- Catechist certified preferred; will teach Religion if Catholic
- Possesses energy, is orderly, a problem solver, mobile in classroom setting
- Conducts excellent classroom management
- Displays a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter assigned and is continuously upgrading competence.
- Instruct students daily in all subjects.
- Contribute to a unified, sequential schoolwide approach to education by coordinating individual teaching goals and curriculum with those of department and of the school as a whole.
- Prepare and submit to Principal measurable learning objectives for various subjects taught and design instruction toward the goal of meeting these objectives.
- Prepare regular lesson plans for weekly review and approval of Principal.
- Attend all faculty meetings and school events at which faculty attendance is required.
- Prepare and submit required student records and reports on a timely basis.
- Provide detailed emergency lesson plans for a substitute to follow in case of teacher's absence.
- Gear instruction to student ability while providing assistance for those needing remedial work or enrichment.
- Protecting God's Children certification possesses or will earn
- Knowledge and use of SMART technology, iPads and online programs
- Prepare referrals of special student cases and submit to the proper agency/authority.
- Maintain effective communications with parents and students.
- Note any significant school problem or potential problem and refer to the proper authority.
- Perform school-related responsibilities, in addition to regular classroom instruction, as agreed upon in contract.
- Create differentiated lessons that can reach all learners
- Organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom experiences that are congruent with educational goals, objectives and Catholic Faith.
- Establishes effective relationships with students and models respect for, and acceptance of, all persons in the Catholic middle school setting.
- Establishes effective relationships with parents, community and other staff members.
- Maintains professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, curriculum development and building committees, and provides a positive role model for students.
