Epidemiologist / ELR Specialist (Remote) Location: Remote Job Type: Contract Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours/day Job Summary We are seeking an Epidemiologist / ELR Specialist to support communicable disease informatics initiatives and public health surveillance projects. This role focuses on Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR), HL7 onboarding, surveillance system support, data integration, and public health informatics activities. The ideal candidate will have experience with public health surveillance systems, ELR workflows, interoperability standards, and analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, or R. Responsibilities • Support Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) onboarding using HL7 2.5.1 standards • Monitor production processes, dashboards, alerts, and issue tracking activities • Investigate ELR processing issues and recommend solutions • Collaborate with developers to enhance integration routes and workflows • Assist with laboratory data processing and flat-file submissions • Manage interoperability vocabulary and surveillance system data standards • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and downstream users of ELR data • Support validation activities, LOINC assignments, and production issue resolution • Participate in system integration and public health informatics projects Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or related field • Experience with ELR onboarding and/or ELR maintenance • Knowledge of HL7 standards and public health surveillance systems • Experience with SQL, SAS, or R • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with state or local health departments • Experience with Rhapsody integration engine • Knowledge of LOINC codes and interoperability standards • Experience with REDCap and communicable disease surveillance systems • Project coordination or informatics support experience Skills • Public Health Informatics • Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) • HL7 2.5.1 • SQL / SAS / R • Rhapsody • REDCap • Data Analysis • Disease Surveillance • Problem Solving • Communication Skills Pay: Up to $50.00 per hour Benefits: • Health insurance • Paid time off Application Question(s): • Do you have hands-on experience with Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) onboarding and/or maintenance using HL7 standards? • Have you worked with public health surveillance systems, REDCap, Rhapsody, or interoperability tools in a state/local health department environment? • What programming or analytical tools have you used for data analysis and reporting (SQL, SAS, R, etc.)? • Please provide your email id to send you the job description?
