**Job Summary**
As a Customer Service Specialist I, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and families who have self-pay accounts. You'll work closely with our team to identify accounts with outstanding balances, develop and implement payment plans, and monitor compliance with our policies and procedures. You'll also receive incoming telephone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Identify accounts with self-pay balances and develop payment plans to ensure compliance with our policies and procedures
* Monitor payment plans and follow up with patients to ensure timely payments
* Respond to incoming telephone calls and patient inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
* Resolve patient complaints and issues in a timely and effective manner
* Collaborate with our team to identify and implement process improvements to enhance patient satisfaction and experience
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions and payment plans
* Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance customer service skills and knowledge
**Essential Qualifications**
* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
* 1-2 years of experience in customer service, patient relations, or a related field
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
* Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience working in a healthcare setting or with patients and families
* Knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures
* Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish, English, or other languages)
* Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software
* Certification in customer service or a related field (e.g., Certified Customer Service Representative (CCSR))
