Data Ventures is a nimble startup incubated within arenaflex, building a best-in-class suite of data products to provide actionable, customer-centric insights and support traders and suppliers in making better business decisions on omni-channel 360 performance. Our focus areas include customers, stores, and employees, in-store services, supplier equipment, supplier data science, and search and personalization.
**Job Responsibilities**
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for leading data science initiatives, mentoring junior colleagues, and implementing best practices across the team. Your key responsibilities will include:
* **Data Source Identification**: Identify the most relevant data sources, define data requirements, and perform preliminary data quality checks.
* **Problem Formulation**: Analyze business problems, question assumptions, and recommend solutions to drive business impact.
* **Analytical Modeling**: Develop and deploy machine learning models, conduct exploratory data analysis, and create continuous, online learning frameworks.
* **Model Deployment & Scaling**: Work with MLOps to push ML models to production, continuously log and track model performance, and identify model parameters for adjustments.
* **Code Development & Testing**: Write code to develop specified solutions, create test cases, and validate proposed answer layouts.
* **Applied Business Acumen**: Evaluate business cases, influence stakeholder decision-making, and translate business requirements into strategies and initiatives.
* **Model Assessment & Validation**: Identify and review model assessment metrics, apply testing and tuning strategies, and ensure testing records are documented and maintained.
* **Data Visualization and Storyteller**: Recommend visualization tools, generate graphical representations of data, and build compelling stories to combine multiple data points into cohesive insights.
**What You'll Bring**
* Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
* 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field
* Deep knowledge and expertise in machine learning, statistics, and data science
* Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R
* Ability to execute projects end-to-end with junior colleagues
* Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc.
* Clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners
* Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language
* Ability to present to management and external clients
