arenaflex's Data Ventures team is a dynamic and agile group of data scientists, engineers, and analysts who work closely with our US stores and e-commerce business to empower customers, associates, and suppliers with technological innovation. Our focus areas include customer insights, store operations, employee engagement, in-store services, supplier enablement, data science, and search and personalization. As a nimble startup incubated within arenaflex, we are building a world-class suite of data products to provide actionable, customer-centric insights and help business leaders make better decisions on omni-channel 360 performance.
**Key Responsibilities**
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:
* **Data Source Identification**: Identify relevant data sources, define data requirements, and extract data from various sources, including external datasets as needed. Perform preliminary data quality checks and provide guidance to junior team members.
* **Problem Formulation**: Analyze business problems, question assumptions, and develop solutions to drive business growth. Set data analytics, machine learning, and automation goals, and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness.
* **Analytical Modeling**: Develop and deploy machine learning models using various techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and natural language processing. Conduct exploratory data analysis, identify patterns, and create data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders.
* **Model Deployment & Scaling**: Work with MLOps to deploy machine learning models to production, continuously log and track model performance, and identify areas for improvement.
* **Code Development & Testing**: Write code to develop and deploy data-driven solutions, create test cases, and validate proposed solutions.
* **Applied Business Acumen**: Evaluate business cases, influence stakeholder decision-making, and translate business requirements into data-driven solutions.
* **Model Assessment & Validation**: Identify and evaluate model assessment metrics, apply testing and tuning strategies, and ensure testing records are documented and maintained.
* **Data Visualization and Storytelling**: Develop data visualizations, create compelling stories, and present insights to various audiences using the right frameworks and communication styles.
**What You'll Bring**
* Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 4 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
* Deep knowledge of machine learning, statistics, and data science.
* Strong programming skills in at least one of Python or R.
* Ability to execute projects from start to finish, including mentoring junior team members.
* Experience with implementing best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, and data quality.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations into simple language.
* Ability to work with business, product, and application partners to drive business growth.
