**Key Responsibilities**
As a Ramp Agent, you will be responsible for:
* Safely lifting, loading, unloading, and transporting baggage, mail, and cargo to and from aircraft, while ensuring timely connections by guiding incoming and departing aircraft from the gate positions.
* Safeguarding cargo, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and weather conditions.
* Safely driving and operating ground equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in areas of congestion.
* Operating baggage scanners and computers to ensure baggage is routed accurately to the customer's destination.
* Maintaining a safe and secure working environment, adhering to all operational processes and procedures.
**Work Environment and Shifts**
As a Ramp Agent, you will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with varying shifts ranging from early morning to overnight. Each station is different based on its individual flight schedule, and you will work between 20 and 40 hours per week based on your seniority. You will also be required to work in harsh weather conditions, including heat, rain, and snow.
**Physical Demands**
The work tasks as a Ramp Agent are physical and include bending, lifting, standing, and walking. You will be required to lift and move bags weighing up to 50-70 pounds, and work in areas with limited visibility. You must be able to pass a physical ability test (PAT) to ensure you can perform the duties of the job.
**Requirements**
To be successful as a Ramp Agent, you must:
* Consistently prioritize the safety and security of yourself, others, and personal data.
* Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
* Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
* Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
* Have a valid driver's license.
* Proficiency in English.
* Pass a physical ability test (PAT).
* Wear required company-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to: hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, protective headwear (bump cap or hard hat), and high visibility safety apparel subject to an approved accommodation, such as alternate PPE.
* Ability to hold airport-specific requirements such as a SIDA Badge and Customs Seal.
**Preferred Qualifications**
While not required, having the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
* Previous experience in a similar role or industry.
* Knowledge of airport operations and procedures.
* Familiarity with ground equipment and baggage handling systems.
