<p><h2>Overview </h2><p>We are seeking a highly skilled, data-curious and motivated FP&A specialist to join our Group FP&A Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing in-depth analysis and second-line assurance of divisional financial information, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial data and forecasts across the organisation and alignment to organisational strategy. This role is a key position in our performance management, planning, analysis, forecasting and budgeting team and requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings effectively. </p><p>The FP&A Senior Analyst (Opex) will be specifically responsible for preparing and maintaining in-depth analyses across several key areas of operational expenditure, to identify drivers, patterns and provide valuable financial insights to senior stakeholders both in Finance and the wider organisation. </p><p>This is a rewarding opportunity to influence the financial future of the UK’s largest water company, ensuring we deliver sustainable performance and create long-term value for our customers, communities, and stakeholders. </p><h2>What you will be doing as FP&A Senior Analyst (Opex) </h2><h2>Financial Modelling & Analysis </h2><ul><li>Develop and maintain robust analytical models to understand and forecast operational expenditure drivers. </li><li>Analyse historical performance trends to identify insights, risks, and opportunities. </li><li>Build forward‑looking models to enhance financial planning capability. </li> </ul><h2>Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting </h2><ul><li>Support the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long‑term strategic planning cycles. </li><li>Provide second‑line assurance to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial forecasts and divisional submissions. </li> </ul><h2>Performance Reporting & Insight </h2><ul><li>Produce high‑quality analysis, dashboards, and visualisations for senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business. </li><li>Investigate performance variances and provide insightful commentary that informs decision‑making. </li> </ul><h2>Stakeholder Engagement </h2><ul><li>Partner with divisional FP&A teams, HR, Treasury, and Commercial to gather data and validate assumptions. </li><li>Work closely with the FP&A Manager (Opex) to improve the efficiency, automation, and quality of reporting processes. </li> </ul><h2>Continuous Improvement & Automation </h2><ul><li>Streamline existing reporting, eliminating non‑value‑added processes. </li><li>Automate analysis and outputs using Power BI, SAC Planning, or other analytical tools. </li> </ul><h2>Location </h2><p>Hybrid, Reading </p><h2>Working hours </h2><p>36 hours per week </p><h2>What should you bring to the role? </h2><ul><li>A qualified accountant with experience in the FP&A function with a proven track record in "adding value". </li><li>Excellent knowledge of providing financial insight, preparing annual plans, forecasts and knowing what ‘good’ looks like </li><li>Strong proficiency in data analysis techniques, tools, and modelling </li><li>Excellent problem-solving capabilities with a curious and creative mindset to exploring patterns and extracting meaningful insights, and a keen attention to detail </li><li>Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders </li><li>Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create complex models and impactful presentations </li><li>Ability to manage a short-term weekly cash flow forecasting on a receipts and payments basis </li> </ul><h2>What’s in it for you? </h2><ul><li>Competitive salary of £65,000 - £72,000 per annum, depending on experience. </li><li>Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service.
