Grant Writer Organization: HYPOTHEkids Location: Remote (Preference for NYC-area candidates) Reports To: Executive Director Hours: Flexible, based on organizational needs and grant cycles About HYPOTHEkids HYPOTHEkids is an education and youth development nonprofit based in West Harlem that provides K-12 students from low-resource backgrounds with hands-on education and training opportunities in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and design, and math), setting them on a path toward academic success and well-paying jobs. Position Overview Hypothekids seeks an experienced Grant Writer with a very organized, systematic approach to lead our efforts in securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources. The ideal candidate will bring substantial expertise in grant writing, a strong understanding of what appeals to funders in the education and youth development sectors, and a track record of successful proposals. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Executive Director and program managers to develop compelling proposals, create project budgets, and manage reporting requirements. This is a flexible, part-time position with hours that may vary based on upcoming deadlines and organizational priorities. Key Responsibilities -Research, identify, and evaluate potential funding opportunities aligned with Hypothekids’ mission and programs. -Write and edit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding reports. -Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to craft compelling narratives that highlight program impact and outcomes. -Develop and manage project budgets in coordination with the Executive Director and finance team. -Update our grants database and grants calendar as needed, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports. -Monitor and track outcomes to support grant compliance and impact reporting. Qualifications -Minimum 5 years of successful grant writing experience in the nonprofit education and/or youth development sector. -Proven ability to write clear, compelling, and persuasive proposals tailored to funder interests. -Strong understanding of funding trends and priorities in education, particularly in STEM and youth programs. -Familiarity with NYC-area funders strongly preferred. -Experience creating project budgets for proposals and other documentation typically required by funders. -Collaborative and proactive work style; able to work effectively with a small, mission-driven team. -Proficiency with grant tracking tools and general office software (e.g., Google Workspace). -Ability to use AI tools effectively to increase efficiency and productivity while communicating the unique vision and voice of the organization.
