Summary:
The ServiceNow CMDB Developer plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and governance of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This individual is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the CMDB data model, ensuring seamless integration with Discovery, Service Mapping, and other key modules. By collaborating closely with IT operations, service owners, and infrastructure teams, the developer ensures that configuration items (CIs) are accurately tracked, relationships are properly defined, and data remains compliant with organizational standards. This role is essential for enabling reliable service management, incident resolution, change control, and reporting across the IT ecosystem.

Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain the CMDB data model to support evolving business and IT service requirements
Implement and manage ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping to automatically identify and populate CIs
Develop and maintain Business Rules, Script Includes, Workflows, and Flow Designer processes to enforce data integrity and automate CMDB operations
Ensure consistent data governance, compliance, and accuracy across the CMDB through regular audits and validation processes
Collaborate with IT teams to onboard new services, define CI hierarchies, and establish accurate CI relationships
Troubleshoot and resolve CMDB, Discovery, and integration-related issues in a timely and effective manner
Support audit requirements and reporting by delivering accurate, up-to-date configuration data
Requirements
4-9 years of total IT experience with 4+ years specifically in ServiceNow CMDB development and data modeling
Proven experience in designing and managing complex CMDB data models within ServiceNow
Strong proficiency in ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and integration technologies
Hands-on experience with Business Rules, Script Includes, Workflows, and Flow Designer
Demonstrated ability to ensure data integrity, governance, and compliance across the CMDB
Experience collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to drive CI onboarding and relationship mapping
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex CMDB and discovery issues
Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management processes is highly desirable
