Role Description
Staff Engineers are recognized as subject matter experts in multiple technologies and have a high-impact role. They are expected to understand the business implications of technical decisions and the consequences of inaction. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading multiple scrum teams toward a clear architectural vision and assisting management and other domains with Kin's overall architectural strategy.
• Leading and defining full-stack Architecture
• Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code Ruby and Typescript
• Setting the standard for Engineering team leading by example
• Delivering stories, tasks, or entire features
• Leading pair programming sessions and providing mentorship to team members
• Attending management meetings as well as daily stands
• Collaborating with Design, Product, and other developers to implement new features
• Contributing to the continual improvement of our code base through refactoring, iteration, test writing, and experimentation
• Helping Kin continue to scale and grow our systems and teams
• Delivering applications that are fast, reliable, and scalable (both public and internally facing)
Qualifications
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Expert proficiency in front end methodologies and languages (we use Typescript, Lit and Angular)
• The experience to build and design distributed, full stack solutions
• Experience with architectural planning, design and documentation
• Ability to articulate value of technical investments with stakeholders
• Ability to identify and mitigate technical risks
• Ability to operate with little-to-no technical guidance
• Ability to lead and guide teams through execution
• Excellent communication skills, coupled with the knack for simplifying complexity to enhance comprehension
• Experience mentoring engineers at all levels
• Comfortable in a high-growth startup environment – we’re fast-paced, self-motivated, and determined to change the industry
• A fast learner, ready to bring previous knowledge to this position and continue developing along the way
