Job description: Ensure that students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce as carpenters or building maintenance supervisors or to prepare for a postsecondary degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering.

Education/Certification:
Option 1:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for the subject and level assigned
- An associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past 10 years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in safety, handling, and proper use of commercial power tools and non-commercial power tools (drill, jigsaw, router, circular saw, etc.)
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, peers, parents, administrators, business partners, and others in the community.
- Ability to create and manage interactive, innovative, hands-on projects for student engagement and effectively teach and work with high school students.
- Have a working knowledge of the objectives and TEKS of courses in the program.
Meet NCCER Craft Instructor Requirements (one of the options listed below)
Work experience at a minimum journey level or licensed technician level (at least 4 years) in a Construction related field.
A minimum of 3 years of teaching construction or other maintenance-related training.
