Our client, a cutting-edge biotechnology firm, is looking for a talented Lead Bioinformatician to spearhead innovative research initiatives in San Diego, California . This pivotal role will involve developing and implementing advanced computational strategies to analyze large-scale biological datasets, driving discoveries in genomics, proteomics, and other related fields. You will work at the forefront of scientific innovation, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers to unlock the potential of complex biological information.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data (e.g., WGS, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq). Apply statistical and machine learning methods to identify patterns, biomarkers, and biological insights from diverse omics datasets. Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, clinicians, and computational scientists to define research questions and deliver actionable results. Develop and implement custom algorithms and software tools to address specific research needs. Manage and interpret complex biological data, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility. Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and related computational biology fields. Mentor and guide junior bioinformaticians and research staff. Present findings at scientific conferences and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals. Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics. Proven expertise in programming languages such as Python and R, and experience with scripting languages like Bash. Demonstrated experience with common bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser). Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, and data mining techniques. Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity) is highly desirable. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences. A strong publication record is a plus.
