Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS), Division of Enterprise Services (DES), is recruiting to fill a Mobile Telecom Technician in the Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS). DHS is located at 201 E. Washington Ave in the heart of downtown Madison, near the State Capitol, the Madison Metro route and the Capital City bike path. This is a hybrid position that offers the option to work remotely up to 2 days per week with the other 3 days in the Madison office. This schedule may vary based on training or operational need. Position Summary The Department of Health Services is seeking an individual to lead the daily management of our telecommunications efforts, with a primary focus on mobile device services. As the Mobile Telecom Technician, you will be responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of the department's mobile fleet, including the onboarding and offboarding of equipment, initial device deployment, and user setup. You will manage ongoing inventory through VMware Workspace ONE (AirWatch) and track assets via Cherwell or Ivanti Neurons databases. Additionally, you will maintain comprehensive records of employee phone assignments and proactively develop communication plans for mobile service upgrades and scheduled system changes to ensure all staff remain fully equipped and connected. In addition to mobile management, you will provide essential hands-on technical support to solve problems and implement service updates across Department facilities. This role requires a high degree of collaboration, as you will coordinate closely with various internal teams to ensure seamless connectivity for all staff. We are looking for a candidate who is deeply committed to exceptional customer service and maintains a positive, solution-oriented attitude while managing the critical mobile infrastructure of the department. Furthermore, this position provides vital technical assistance for our traveling conferences, including the setup and support of streaming and video services to ensure successful off-site events. Salary Information The starting pay is between $36.00-$41.00 per hour ($74,800-$85,200 per year) depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction This position is classified as an Information Systems Network Services Senior and is in pay schedule and range 07-34.
