NCRising Math Tutor – College Prep & Student Empowerment
NCRising is committed to empowering high-achieving high school students to take ownership of their college journey with confidence, clarity, and purpose. We support juniors and seniors in building the skills, mindset, and strategies needed to succeed, with a focus of preparing emerging high school leaders for the selective college application process.
We are seeking a proactive Math tutor and mentor to work 1:1 with students beginning June 2026 through the 2026–2027 school year and summer. Sessions will primarily take place after school hours, with occasional weekend opportunities based on student availability. We strongly prefer candidates interested in building long-term relationships with students (2+ years).
What You’ll Do
• Guide students in setting clear academic and personal goals around math content, and hold them accountable through consistent progress tracking
• Deliver targeted instruction in high school math (Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II,AP Calculus (AB/BC), AP Statistics, and AP Precalculus and beyond as needed) at advanced levels
• Drive measurable growth in SAT/ACT Math scores through personalized, data-driven test prep
• Teach effective test-taking strategies that build confidence and independence
• Strengthen students’ ability to communicate mathematical thinking clearly and accurately
• Track progress, analyze performance trends, and adjust instruction to maximize results
• Foster a growth mindset, encouraging persistence, reflection, and ownership of progress

• Able to track and report student progress in order to meet NCRising goals
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering, or a related math field
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring high school math
• Experience with SAT/ACT Math prep and score improvement strategies
Position Details
• Type: Part-time
• Pay: $45-$50/hour + paid planning time
• Schedule: Flexible; after school (Monday–Friday) with occasional weekends; hours depend on student schedule and quantity of students in cohort
