Operating Group Quality Director - Solar

In partnership with the Operating Group Leadership and the Quality Department, the Operating Group Quality Director is responsible for strategically managing quality within the Solar operating group and ensuring the system is fully implemented and operating in accordance with group and company requirements.    Location: Any home base location in the continental United States; preference given to those that can work from our MN-HQ or any regional office   Travel: up to 50%    RESPONSIBILITIES Lead Operating Group towards continuous quality improvement including ability to resolve technical issues with suppliers, trade partners, customers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.  Lead, oversee and serve as a resource for Quality Managers, Operating Group Leadership, PXs/PMs, and Superintendents  Proven ability to resolve cross-cultural conflict in a culturally appropriate way  Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence others at all levels of the organization and with external partners to drive results  Lead the vision, definition, implementation, and management of the Quality System for the Group to ensure alignment with the company’s Quality System, objectives, and goals  Lead and manage the group’s training on the Quality System and processes for all personnel  Lead setting the standards for and monitoring Group Quality performance   Lead Group wide dashboard and Quality data collection, reporting, and analysis    Establish and lead quality initiatives for the group including the Group’s identification, documentation, root cause and trend analysis and corrective action system for significant Quality Issues/Events including call back and warranty issues.   Oversees the group’s Quality incident reporting, root cause analysis, and preventative actions  Develops leaders through active career sponsorship and providing the right responsibilities and work assignments to cultivate growth and development   Supports and encourages team member career learning and development  Coaches and mentors the project teams  Assist in identifying, hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating, and promoting other quality professionals in the group  Identify opportunities to enhance margin and/or minimize risk on projects through means-and-methods, supplier/material selection, and/or design standardization    QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, or equivalent experience is required. Advanced degrees will also be considered.  Minimum of 10 years of experience within Engineering or Construction industry as a Lead Quality Manager  Demonstrated experience working in a Design/Build environment  Current driver’s license   Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback  Excellent understanding of construction processes, systems, project management, costs, and financial risks  Strong knowledge of design and construction contracts  Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in quality systems like Malcolm Baldrige, ISO 9000:2015, Army Corps of Engineers, ASQ, Lean/Kaizen, or similar  Demonstrated understanding of A/E business and client’s business interest  Ability to travel up to, some months 50% or more to visit the Operating Group projects supported by this role  Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity, inclusive behaviors, and Affirmative Action plans and their intended use    A few benefits offered include:   (for Non-Craft & Non-Union Craft working 25+ hours / week)  Medical and prescription drug plans that includes no additional cost vision coverage   Dental plan   401k retirement plan with a generous Mortenson match   Paid time off, holidays, and other paid leaves   Employer paid Life, AD&D, and disability insurance   No-Cost mental health tool and concierge with extensive work-life resources  Tuition reimbursement   Adoption Assistance    Gym Membership Discount Program      The base pay range for this role is $136,600 - $205,000. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).    Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.     #LI-DNI    Please make note:   Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.   Our postings are typically open a minimum of 5 days and an average of 44 days.     ABOUT MORTENSON  As a top builder, developer, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), our expertise spans markets like sports, renewable energy, data centers, healthcare, and more.
