The People department is a strategic business function that focuses on putting employees first by humanizing systems, improving processes, and creating an exceptional employee experience across the full employee lifecycle. We partner closely with leaders across the organisation to ensure our people, systems, policies, and operations scale effectively alongside the business.
As a People Operations Partner, you will play a critical role in supporting and strengthening Verto’s global People function, with a strong focus on United States employee operations, compliance, onboarding, benefits administration, HR systems, and operational excellence.
This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and balancing people support with operational execution. You will work closely with the Head of People to help build scalable, compliant, people-first processes across the organization.
🚀 What You’ll Be Doing
Employee Lifecycle & Operations
Own and deliver a seamless onboarding and offboarding experience for US employees, including background checks, I-9 compliance, systems access, documentation, and orientation coordination
Coordinate and administer employee changes including promotions, compensation updates, transfers, leave administration, and exits
Support new hire orientation and onboarding program improvements to ensure a high-quality employee experience
Maintain accurate employee records and data integrity across HR systems including BambooHR and PEO platforms
Support employment documentation management including offer letters, employment agreements, handbook acknowledgements, and policy tracking
Support the Head of People in the development, tracking, and delivery of People team OKRs, helping drive alignment, accountability, and operational execution across key initiatives.
Payroll, Benefits & PEO Administration
Serve as a key operational partner for US payroll and benefits administration in partnership with our PEO and benefits providers
Manage payroll-related requests, employee changes, audits, and reporting in a timely and accurate manner
Support annual Open Enrollment processes and employee benefits education
Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, leave programs, and HR policies
Partner closely with external vendors and PEO providers to ensure operational excellence and compliance
Compliance & Policy Management
Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment legislation across the US
Stay informed on evolving labor laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices
Assist in maintaining, updating, and rolling out company policies, handbooks, SOPs, and internal process documentation
Support compliance training initiatives and tracking requirements
Help coordinate audits, reporting requests, and documentation related to employment compliance
HR Systems, Data & Reporting
Support administration and optimization of BambooHR and other People systems
Maintain strong HR data hygiene and reporting accuracy
Assist with dashboards, workforce reporting, people analytics, and operational insights
Partner with the Head of People to support recruiting metrics and hiring insights
Help identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve operational efficiency through AI and technology solutions
Talent Acquisition & Hiring Support
Support recruitment coordination and interview processes across the organization
Conduct interviews for selected roles and help assess candidate alignment with Verto’s values and culture
Assist with offer creation, hiring documentation, and onboarding preparation
Help improve candidate experience and hiring process consistency
Training, Process Improvement & Employee Experience
Create and maintain HR process documentation, user guides, SOPs, and training materials
Support the development and rollout of manager and employee training initiatives
Help improve internal People Operations processes, workflows, and employee communications
Partner with the Head of People to continuously improve systems, scalability, and operational maturity across the People function
Support employee engagement and performance management initiatives including Culture Amp processes and program
Performance Management Cycles
Support the administration and coordination of Verto’s performance management programs, including quarterly retrospectives, annual review cycles, employee feedback processes, and calibration activities
Administer and support performance management workflows within Culture Amp, including cycle setup, participation tracking, reporting, and manager/employee support
Partner with the Head of People and managers to ensure performance processes, feedback practices, goal tracking, and development planning are delivered consistently and effectively across the organization
Create and maintain performance management resources, training materials, SOPs, and reporting insights to support continuous improvement and organizational effectiveness
Business Partnership & Employee Support
Act as a trusted first point of contact for employee questions and day-to-day People Operations support
Build strong collaborative relationships across departments and leadership teams
Support managers with employee lifecycle processes, People policies, and operational guidance
Contribute to a positive, people-first culture built on accountability, empathy, and operational excellence
🧠 What We’re Looking For
Must-have:
Fluency in English
Ability to work remote, this is a remote position.
Able to travel at least 1-2 weeks per year
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience leveraging AI tools or automation to improve operational efficiency
3+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Generalist, HR Operations, or related HR roles
Experience supporting the full employee lifecycle within a fast-paced organisation
Experience supporting US payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance
Familiarity working with a PEO environment (Sequoia One preferred)
Familiarity working with an EOR (Deel)
Experience managing HRIS systems, preferably BambooHR
Experience supporting onboarding, offboarding, and I-9 compliance processes
Familiarity with performance management and employee engagement platforms such as Culture Amp
Strong understanding of US federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to provide verbal and written information, with clear instructions
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Strong computer skills including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, reporting, and HR systems (able to run mail merges, pivot tables, and intermediate formulas such as xlookup).
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
Nice-to-have:
Experience working in a global or multi-country organization
Experience supporting remote-first or distributed teams
Experience building SOPs, process documentation, and operational workflows
Experience supporting Talent Acquisition processes and interview coordination
Experience supporting HR reporting, dashboards, and people analytics
SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent HR certification
Experience in education, EdTech, higher education, or mission-driven organizations

💲Compensation
At Verto, base salary is one part of your total compensation package.
Final base pay will depend on your location (aligned to Verto’s compensation regions), as well as your experience, skills, and relevant qualifications. Your recruiter/hiring manager can share the specific range for your location during the hiring process.

$60,000–$80,000 USD
