About the position
This is a paid Pharmacy Technician Training program offered by Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) to help individuals launch their careers as certified Pharmacy Technicians. The program lasts approximately 4-5 months and includes online classes and hands-on experience at BILH hospital or retail sites. Upon successful completion of the program and passing the exam, participants will be prepared for the MA Pharmacy Technician license and a position within the organization.
Responsibilities
• Complete online classes and hands-on training as part of the Pharmacy Technician University program.
• Gain practical experience alongside healthcare professionals at a BILH facility.
• Prepare for and pass the MA Pharmacy Technician license exam.
• Commit to one year of subsequent full-time employment upon program completion.
Requirements
• Proficient in English.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Commitment to the full-time training program.
• Commitment to 1 year of subsequent full-time employment.
• Ability to make decisions based on specific instructions, standard practices, and established procedures with little or no supervision.
• Ability to address routine problems by following clear directions and procedures and identifying process improvements.
• Ability to follow general instructions and procedures with work monitored by a supervisor/manager.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English.
• Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with staff, patients, families, and external customers.

• Competent to provide patient care to Neonatal, Youth, Young adult, Middle Age, and Elderly age groups.
• Ability to work with concentrated attention for up to 4 hours without a break.
• Ability to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.
• Potential exposure to dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals, infectious diseases, airborne pathogens, and bloodborne pathogens, requiring protective equipment (Respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear etc.).
• Ability to perform medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
• Constant walking and standing required for the majority of the shift.
• Requires constant walking, standing, keyboard use, endurance (working up to 5-6 hours without a break), frequent sitting, bending neck, bending waist, fine manipulation using both hands, pushing/pulling using both hands, reaching above and below shoulder height.
• Occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 lbs, 25 lbs.
• Occasional pushing items weighing up to 10 lbs, 25 lbs, 50 lbs.
• Rare lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Rare pushing items weighing up to 75 lbs.
• Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
