As a Business Development Manager, you will introduce innovative water treatment solutions to hospitals, helping healthcare organizations improve performance, reliability, and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Prospect, qualify, and close new business opportunities with SPD, Central Sterile, and Biomedical Engineering teams across hospitals, health systems, and IDN networks
- Manage full sales cycle: lead generation, needs assessment, proposal development, pricing, negotiation, and contract closure
- Develop and present tailored solutions for water purification, deionized/RO systems, water softening, point-of-use filtration, and maintenance/service packages that meet SPD regulatory, quality, and uptime requirements
- Conduct technical needs analysis and coordinate site surveys with internal technical teams and third-party contractors
- Build and maintain relationships with SPD managers, infection prevention, facilities, purchasing/procurement, and biomedical engineers
- Prepare and deliver product demonstrations, ROI analyses, total cost of ownership (TCO) models, and compliance documentation (e.g., water quality standards relevant to sterilization)
- Collaborate with service operations and sales engineering to define service-level agreements (SLAs), preventive maintenance plans, and emergency response processes
- Track pipeline and forecast monthly/quarterly sales; meet or exceed revenue, margin, and contract targets
- Maintain CRM records via Salesforce, produce sales reports, and contribute to product feedback and market intelligence both on the MMIC and Verda sides of business
- Representing the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and local customer meetings
Skills
- 5+ years B2B sales experience, preferably selling technical equipment or recurring service contracts to hospitals, healthcare systems, or facility management groups
- Proven track record closing business with SPD, central sterile services, or clinical/facilities buyers is strongly preferred
- Technical literacy in water treatment systems (RO, DI, filtration, softeners), ST108, sterilization support, or medical device support services
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, water quality data, and regulatory requirements relevant to sterilization and patient safety
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships across clinical, procurement, and technical stakeholders
- Comfortable with frequent travel to customer sites and regional events
- Valid driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Existing network and contacts within hospital decision makers such as C-Suite Executives, Peri-operative & Facility Directors, and leadership within SPD/Central Sterile, Infection Prevention, or Biomedical Engineering
- Experience structuring service contracts with Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs)
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., AAMI guidance) and healthcare procurement processes
