Niigata, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, maintain, and repair high-precision CNC machining centers at customer sites across North America. This hands-on, field-based role involves extensive travel and requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills to solve real-world problems in manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Install and commission CNC machining centers at customer facilities
- Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on large CNC machining centers
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical issues
- Execute preventative maintenance and system inspections
- Perform machine alignment, leveling, and geometry calibration
- Support troubleshooting of CNC control systems (primarily Fanuc) with internal technical teams as needed
- Maintain accurate service documentation and reports
- Represent Niigata professionally during all on-site customer interactions
Skills
- Hands-on experience servicing CNC machinery or industrial equipment in the field
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability (primary requirement), with familiarity working around CNC control environments
- Experience installing, maintaining, or repairing complex equipment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience in a field-based role (not solely office, coordination, or support)
- Experience with horizontal machining centers (HMCs)
- Experience with CNC control systems, with Fanuc strongly preferred; candidates without direct Fanuc experience will be considered only if they have deep hands-on CNC experience and strong troubleshooting ability
- Experience working for CNC machine tool OEMs
- Experience working for machine tool distributors
- Experience working for industrial equipment service organizations
