[Remote] Head of Federal Government Affairs (Washington, DC.)

The Head of Federal Government Affairs will be responsible for advancing the company's priorities at the federal level, shaping policy to support AI adoption in clinical documentation. Responsibilities • The Head of Federal Government Affairs, will serve as Abridge’s primary on-the-ground federal affairs lead in Washington, DC • Develop clear policy positions, advocacy strategies, and response plans for priority federal proposals • Manage and coordinate external lobbyists and policy consultants to advance legislative and regulatory objectives. Ensure compliance with lobbying disclosure requirements • Build and maintain relationships with Congressional offices, Federal agencies, and senior agency staff • Monitor, analyze, and brief leadership on relevant Federal legislation, regulatory activity, and emerging trends in healthcare and AI policy • Identify, build, and participate in coalitions with aligned companies, associations, providers, and advocacy organizations • Prepare leadership for DC engagements, including background memos and stakeholder maps • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure policy strategy aligns with product roadmap, regulatory posture, and go-to-market priorities Skills • 7+ years of experience in federal government affairs, ideally in healthcare, digital health, or technology policy • Strong working knowledge of federal policymaking processes, including legislative and regulatory pathways • Experience representing an organization at external policy events or public forums • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts (AI/ML, regulatory frameworks, clinical workflows) into accessible policy narratives • Demonstrated experience working with or managing external lobbyists • Proven ability to build relationships and credibility with policymakers, staff, and coalition partners • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-moving, high-growth environment • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise business judgement; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust • Experience with or within Federal agencies or key healthcare committees • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, healthcare interoperability rules, or digital health regulation • Prior in-house public policy experience (bonus points if at a growth-stage or healthcare technology company) • Experience supporting policy efforts related to federal procurement Benefits • 14 paid holidays, flexible PTO for salaried employees, and accrued time off for hourly employees • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for all full-time employees and their families. • If you choose a High Deductible Health Plan, Abridge makes monthly contributions to your HSA. • Generous paid parental leave for all full-time employees. • Resources and financial support to help you build your family. • Contribution matching to help invest in your future. • Tax free funds for personal device usage. • Access to Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Commuter Benefits. • Monthly contributions for fitness, professional development, coworking, and more. • Dedicated access to therapy and coaching to help you reach your goals. • Paid Sabbatical Leave after 5 years of employment. • Competitive compensation and equity grants for full time employees.
