A health insurance broker needs to often explain complex, confusing coverage options in plain language — and do it in a way that builds trust rather than pressure. Active listening matters just as much as talking, since understanding a client's actual situation is what drives the right recommendation. · Self-motivation and discipline are non-negotiable, especially for remote and commission-only roles. Without a manager setting your schedule, you have to have the ability to treat your pipeline like a business — prospecting consistently, following up diligently, and not letting slow weeks derail your momentum. · Consultative sales ability will separate the average broker from a great one. In this role, you won’t be pushing a product. You will be diagnosing a need and matching it to the right solution. Clients can tell the difference, and it's what drives referrals and renewals. · Resilience and patience matter more than in most fields. Health insurance sales comes with a lot of objections, delayed decisions, and clients who ghost. If you take rejection personally or burn out quickly, it will be difficult to last long in this role. · Attention to detail and compliance mindset is critical in a regulated industry. Errors in plan selection, enrollment paperwork, or carrier submissions can have real consequences for clients. You will need to be thorough and stay current on regulations, plan changes, and carrier rules. · Relationship-orientation over transaction-orientation is a big differentiator. You will be successful as a health insurance broker by building a book of business over many years of hard work — through renewals, referrals, and trust. It’s important that you think about the long-term client relationship and not just the first sale. · Existing network or community ties help you build your book of business faster. If you are already embedded in a business community, a cultural group, or a specific industry niche, you will have an advantage in this industry because you have a natural prospect base. Important: This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Brokers are responsible for their own licensure, computer and home office equipment, continuing education, and applicable taxes. No base salary or benefits are included. How to Apply If you want to get paid what you are worth while working from home, submit your resume. If selected, you will be invited to attend an informational Zoom meeting that will let you know more about this position, how the commissions work and what you need to do to get started.
