Own the Litigation Engine. Work From Anywhere.
Tired of commuting for work you could do from your home office? Looking for a role where your output matters more than your office hours?
The Law Office of Gregory A. Goodman, P.C. is a plaintiff’s personal injury litigation firm based on Long Island, NY with a 24-year track record of results. We are looking for a remote, New York-admitted attorney to take ownership of our litigation docket’s procedural engine: discovery management, motion practice, and case progression. You will be the dedicated resource ensuring litigated cases move forward aggressively and on schedule.
This is not a document review role or a junior research position. You will have direct responsibility for pushing discovery, drafting and filing motions, and keeping opposing counsel accountable. If you are self-directed, litigation-savvy, and want autonomy without micromanagement, this is the role.
Position Summary
You will serve as the firm’s dedicated litigation attorney for active and incoming litigated matters. Your core mandate is to keep cases on track procedurally: ensure discovery is complete, responses are timely, demands are served, and deadlines are enforced through motion practice when necessary. You will work closely with the managing partner and the firm’s paralegal and support teams, who handle administrative tasks, medical records, and client communications.
In this role, you will:
• Be the Discovery Engine: Manage and push discovery from start to finish across your assigned caseload. Serve demands, prepare responses, track outstanding items, and follow up relentlessly.
• Draft and File Motions: Prepare motions to compel, discovery-related motions, and other procedural motions to enforce compliance and keep cases moving.
• Prepare Bills of Particulars: Draft, finalize, and serve Verified Bills of Particulars and supplemental/amended BOPs as cases develop.
• Monitor Opposing Counsel: Track defense responses, flag deficiencies, calendar deadlines, and escalate discovery disputes promptly.
• Accelerate Case Progression: Support the firm’s goal of resolving cases within target timelines by eliminating procedural delays and keeping litigation on an aggressive schedule.
• Leverage Technology: Work within the firm’s Clio Manage platform, AI-assisted drafting tools, and automated workflow systems to maximize efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Discovery Management: Draft, serve, and track all discovery demands and responses (interrogatories, document demands, authorizations). Ensure no discovery item goes stale or unaddressed.
• Bills of Particulars: Draft Verified Bills of Particulars, supplemental BOPs, and responses to defense demands for BOPs across active litigated cases.
• Demands and Offers: Prepare and serve demands. Monitor and track settlement demand timelines and defense responses.
• Motion Practice: Draft and file motions to compel, discovery enforcement motions, cross-motions, and related motion papers. Prepare reply papers as needed.
• Deadline and Calendar Management: Maintain litigation calendars, track court deadlines, discovery cutoffs, note of issue dates, and compliance conference schedules.
• Case Progression Tracking: Provide regular status updates on discovery progress, outstanding items, and pending motions for each assigned matter.
• Collaboration: Work with firm leadership, paralegals, and the back-office support team to coordinate case file preparation and task completion.
Required qualifications:
• J.D. and active admission to the New York State Bar
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience (plaintiff personal injury strongly preferred; defense-side PI or general civil litigation considered)
• Strong legal writing and drafting skills: pleadings, BOPs, discovery demands and responses, motion papers
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume docket independently with minimal supervision
• Self-directed and deadline-driven: able to prioritize, manage time, and deliver consistently in a remote environment
• Familiarity with New York State court procedures, including CPLR discovery rules, e-filing (NYSCEF), and litigation timelines
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with plaintiff personal injury litigation (motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, slip and fall)
• Federal Court admission (EDNY/SDNY) or willingness to obtain
• Familiarity with Clio Manage or similar legal practice management software
• Comfort with AI-assisted legal tools (ChatGPT, Supio, or similar)
