The Director of Operations is responsible for translating strategy into execution, driving performance improvement, and leading operational initiatives while partnering with hospital leadership and teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead execution of operational improvement initiatives across assigned client engagements
- Support revenue cycle and improvement of administrative performance, including:
- Cash collection improvement
- Accounts Receivable optimization
- Denials follow-up and reduction support
- Billing and reimbursement workflow improvement
- Patient access, business office, and administrative workflow enhancements
- Ensure operational initiatives are implemented in a practical, sustainable manner aligned with hospital staffing, workflow, and cultural realities
- Monitor performance trends, identify barriers, and recommend corrective actions when results do not meet expectations
- Drive accountability for assigned deliverables through consistent follow-up, documentation, and reporting
- Partner directly with hospital leadership and frontline teams to understand operational pain points, performance gaps, and implementation barriers
- Serve as a day-to-day operational contact for assigned client initiatives
- Support client conversations with clear updates on:
- Performance progress
- Open issues
- Risks and barriers
- Next steps
- Required decisions or support
- Promote trust through responsiveness, professionalism, follow-through, and clear communication
- Lead and support workflow assessments across revenue cycle and administrative functions
- Support process redesign in areas such as:
- Patient access
- Authorization and registration workflows
- Billing workflows
- Claims follow-up
- Denials management
- Payment posting and reconciliation workflows
- Patient balance workflows
- Front-end and back-end communication handoffs
- Develop and support standard work, tools, trackers, and routines that improve consistency and visibility with measurable improvements
- Track assigned performance metrics and operational indicators on a regular cadence
- Support KPI reporting tied to key revenue cycle and operational outcomes, including:
- AR aging
- Cash collections
- Denials
- Follow-up productivity
- Workflow completion
- Escalation volume
- Issue resolution timelines
- Vendor or team performance trends, as applicable
- Identify trends, risks, and performance gaps that require intervention
- Ensure reporting is focused on outcomes, barriers, and action plans—not simply activity completion
- Coordinate and manage third-party vendors supporting assigned operational or revenue cycle functions
- Monitor vendor performance against expected deliverables, timelines, and reporting needs and identify vendor-related issues that impact client performance or operational execution
- Support corrective action follow-up when vendor performance gaps are identified
- Ensure vendor work aligns with client priorities, internal workflows, and Cosyn’s operating expectations
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and coaching to assigned team members or operational resources
- Reinforce expectations related to ownership, follow-through, professionalism, and measurable outcomes while supporting team members in prioritizing work, resolving barriers, and improving execution quality
- Identify skill gaps, training needs, or process clarity issues that may affect performance
- Model effective communication, sound judgment, and client-centered problem solving
- Support structured operating routines across assigned engagements, including:
- Performance reviews
- Issue tracking
- Action item follow-up
- Workflow adoption check-ins
- Client updates
- Internal escalation reviews
- Maintain visibility into key initiatives, timelines, risks, and deliverables
- Support development of playbooks, workflows, templates, and tools that strengthen consistency across engagements
