The Regional Sales Manager will lead and develop a team of Sales Managers to drive revenue growth and market share while ensuring effective execution of company strategies across the assigned region.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Sales Managers and Field Support Specialists to build high-performing sales organizations
- Set clear expectations for leadership behaviors, territory execution, and performance standards
- Conduct regular field visits, ride-along, and leadership coaching sessions
- Oversee talent development, succession planning, and hiring in partnership with HR and senior leadership
- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Drive achievement of regional revenue, growth, margin, and market-share objectives
- Review and challenge district and territory business plans, forecasts, and pipelines
- Monitor regional performance metrics and implement corrective actions where needed
- Ensure consistent execution of pricing, promotions, and sales initiatives
- Translate national and regional strategies into clear execution plans for Sales Managers
- Lead regional rollout of new products, programs, and sales initiatives
- Ensuring alignment between Makita priorities and field execution across all districts
- Support strategic initiatives tied to key customers, large projects, and market opportunities
- Support Sales Managers in managing distributor relationships and key regional accounts
- Participate in executive-level customer meetings and escalations as required
- Reinforce best practices in distribution management, pull-through selling, and value-based selling
- Serve as a senior field representative for Makita within the region
- Partner with marketing, product management, operations, training, and service teams
- Provide structured regional feedback to improve products, programs, and go-to-market execution
- Collaborate with other Regional Sales Managers to share best practices and drive consistency
- Provide regular business updates, forecasts, and strategic insights to the Regional Vice President
- Manage regional budgets, travel planning, and expense controls
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and ethical guidelines
Skills
- 10+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, preferably in industrial, construction, or technical products
- Demonstrated success driving results through sales leadership teams
- Experience working through distribution channels
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Proven ability to lead leaders and build high-performing sales teams
- Ability to drive results through District Sales Managers and Territory teams
- Ability to connect strategy to disciplined field execution
- Strong understanding of forecasting, margins, pricing, and promotional effectiveness
- Ability to engage credibly with senior leadership and key customers
- Ability to lead teams through new initiatives, processes, and market conditions
- Ability to address complex issues and remove execution barriers
- Strong understanding of industrial power tools, construction markets, and channel dynamics
- Accountability for regional performance, talent development, and culture
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred
- Prior experience managing multi-district or multi-layer field sales organizations strongly preferred
