Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. STAXX is a fully remote fractional CFO firm delivering top-tier accounting and CFO advisory services. The Senior Accounting Cleanup Specialist will lead client onboarding and cleanup tasks, ensuring accurate financial records and a smooth handoff for ongoing accounting services.
Responsibilities
- Lead onboarding: review client systems, set materiality thresholds, and finalize the accounting framework and client-specific accruals with the CFO
- Own all cleanup tasks: verify account balances across the full cleanup period within materiality, with documented support for balances and treatment decisions
- Handle client accounting and documentation communication, sending regular progress updates and escalating satisfaction concerns to the CFO
- Prepare the handoff: compile and record client specific knowledge, set up QBO rules, amortization schedules, and recurring entries for ongoing accounting
- Delegate to and review assigned Staff work, keep in-house project tracking systems up to date and accurate, and coordinate quality review and handoff with the Cleanup Services Manager
Skills
- 4+ years of accounting experience with a strong audit, cleanup, catch-up, or full-cycle background
- A forensic mindset paired with genuine curiosity
- Sound framework judgment (GAAP, modified GAAP, modified cash basis)
- Advanced proficiency in QBO and Excel/Google Sheets
- Ability to leave behind clean workpapers and documentation
- Clear, confident communicator
- Self-directed and dependable in a remote setting
- CPA and/or audit experience a plus
