Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. VetsEZ is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering secure healthcare applications while collaborating with various teams in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Java, Java EE, Java 17, Spring Boot, Node.js/TypeScript, and React or Angular
- Architect and implement secure, cloud-native, event-driven microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing AWS services including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3
- Develop AI-enabled solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs into enterprise healthcare applications while evaluating emerging AI technologies and best practices
- Build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, and ensure application scalability, security, and maintainability through sound engineering principles
- Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and DevOps best practices to deliver high-quality software in a regulated environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions while supporting Agile development processes and maintaining technical documentation
- Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field
- Minimum of six (6) years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with technical leadership responsibilities
- Experience designing and developing distributed, cloud-native applications using modern software architecture principles
- Experience integrating AI or Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities into enterprise applications
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
- Strong proficiency with Java, Java EE, Java 17, and Spring Framework
- Experience developing applications using Node.js, TypeScript, React, or Angular
- Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including Aurora PostgreSQL, ECS, SQS, and S3
- Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Knowledge of secure software development practices and modern DevOps methodologies
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor software engineers and provide technical leadership
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote environment
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) programs or other federal government agencies
- Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7
- Experience working within regulated healthcare environments
- Experience with intelligent automation, AI orchestration frameworks, or agent-based systems
- Professional certifications in AWS, Java, Agile, or related technologies are preferred
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Public Trust or other required security clearance
