Our client, a leading innovator in the Beauty & Wellness industry, is seeking a highly experienced and creative Senior Skincare Formulation Chemist to join their fully remote product development team. This role is central to developing groundbreaking skincare products that meet the highest standards of efficacy, safety, and consumer appeal. You will be at the forefront of ingredient research, formulation optimization, and scale-up activities, working closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, marketing, and regulatory affairs. Conceptualize, develop, and optimize innovative skincare formulations from benchtop to pilot scale, focusing on performance, stability, and sensory attributes. Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and ingredient screening to identify novel actives and technologies. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and identify solutions to ensure product quality and consistency. Collaborate with the sourcing team to evaluate raw materials and ensure supplier quality. Prepare detailed lab reports, formulation documentation, and claims substantiation data. Work closely with regulatory affairs to ensure compliance with global cosmetic regulations. Partner with marketing and consumer insights teams to translate consumer needs and market trends into product concepts. Provide technical support for manufacturing processes and scale-up activities. Mentor junior chemists and contribute to the overall growth of the R&D department.
Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cosmetic Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in skincare formulation development within the beauty industry. In-depth knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation science, rheology, and stability testing. Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations (FDA, EU, etc.). Proven ability to innovate and bring successful products to market. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment. Proficiency in data analysis and scientific documentation.
