General Summary
• RN Educator- Simulation Coordinator role involves addressing the educational and developmental needs of nursing staff. This includes ensuring that nursing professionals possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide high-quality, competent care to patients and their families. Additionally, this role takes a lead in designing, executing, and refining simulation experiences within the Clinical Education department to enhance learning, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making. This role requires nurse to be a liaison between hospital and nursing programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Performs all tasks necessary for grant funding as the Simulation Coordinator.
• Support the educational needs of assigned units through classroom instruction, clinical experiences, and learning technologies.
• Implement comprehensive education programs to meet the orientation, ongoing competency, and professional development needs of nursing staff.
• Design and execute simulation scenarios in collaboration with nursing departments, nursing programs and inter-professional entities, promoting learning and clinical decision-making.
• Mentor and coach content experts and preceptors, modeling best instructional practices based on INACSL standards.
• Utilize performance improvement processes to evaluate and enhance educational programs, providing continuing education and mentorship opportunities.
• Collect feedback and data to assess learning outcomes in simulation activities and create reports on grant outcomes.
• Sets up simulation experiences and collaborates with content experts to provide simulation scenarios to learners. Maintains and organizes simulation equipment according to best practices.
• Collaborate with educators, administration, unit managers, clinical nurse specialists, and staff to maximize educational opportunities and cost-effective programs.
• Utilize research and evidence-based practices in the development of nursing education programs.
Education
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. A general understanding of nursing principles and practices as normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Work Experience
• At least five (5) years of clinical experience with at least one year of adult teaching experience.
• Experience in developing and implementing education offerings based on needs assessments.
• Intermediate computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products, and a demonstrated record of success in teaching nursing skills and critical thinking.
Certification/License
• Current RN license in the State of Missouri or Compact State.
• ACLS Instructor certification preferred
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Mental/Physical Requirements
• Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
• Potential exposure to infectious diseases and slight possibility of encountering hostile persons.
• Minimal physical discomfort in a teaching environment with office noise and distractions.
