About the Role Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior 3D Environment Artist to join their award-winning game development studio in **Sacramento, California**. You will be responsible for crafting high-quality 3D assets, from architectural structures to natural landscapes, ensuring artistic coherence and technical efficiency. Key Responsibilities Model, sculpt, texture, and integrate high-quality 3D environment assets, including props, architecture, and terrain features. Collaborate with art directors and lead artists to establish and maintain the visual style and quality bar for game environments. Work closely with level designers to ensure environments are functional, engaging, and support gameplay objectives. Optimize 3D assets for performance, ensuring efficient memory usage and frame rates. Develop and refine environment art pipelines and workflows. Create realistic and stylized assets that adhere to project art direction and technical constraints. Participate in art reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback. Mentor junior environment artists and contribute to team knowledge sharing. Research and implement new techniques and technologies to enhance environment art production. Ensure consistency and attention to detail across all created environmental assets. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Digital Art, Game Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a 3D Environment Artist in the game industry, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating realistic and complex environments. Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and sculpting software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush). Expertise in texture creation tools such as Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop. Familiarity with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, including asset integration and material setup. Strong understanding of environmental storytelling, composition, and lighting. Experience with photogrammetry and other advanced texturing techniques is a plus. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt to different art styles and project requirements.
