Our client is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Agronomist specializing in Precision Agriculture to join their pioneering team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in the United States. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing cutting-edge strategies that leverage technology to optimize crop production, enhance sustainability, and improve farm profitability. Your role will involve analyzing vast datasets from various sources, including satellite imagery, soil sensors, and yield monitors, to provide actionable insights to farmers and agricultural businesses.
Key responsibilities include designing and managing field trials to evaluate new agricultural technologies and practices. You will develop customized precision agriculture plans for clients, incorporating variable rate application, GPS guidance, and other data-driven techniques. Educating and advising farmers on best practices in crop management, pest and disease control, and soil health will be a significant part of your role. You will stay at the forefront of technological advancements in agriculture, identifying and evaluating emerging tools and platforms that can benefit our client's customers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and software developers, to refine existing tools and develop new solutions will be essential. Contributing to research projects and disseminating findings through reports, presentations, and publications will also be expected.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a closely related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomy, with a strong focus on precision agriculture technologies and data analysis, is required. Demonstrated experience with farm management software, GIS platforms, and data visualization tools is essential. Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with the ability to translate complex technical information into practical, actionable advice for farmers. A deep understanding of crop physiology, soil science, and integrated pest management is highly desirable. This remote-first role demands excellent self-management, communication, and collaboration skills, enabling you to work effectively with growers and internal teams across the country for our client located in Madison, Wisconsin, US .
