As a Senior Data Scientist in our team, you'll collaborate with experts, data scientists, and researchers to design, build, and deploy statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models to safeguard the Microsoft Cloud against known and emerging cyberattacks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop statistical, machine learning, and AI-based security models for cybersecurity and intrusion detection that are achievable, scalable, and meet business targets.
- Understand business problems and use data science expertise to uncover key factors that can impact outcomes on specific products.
- Mentor less experienced engineers in standards and best practices.
- Secure and prepare datasets for modeling and ensure data integrity and protection.
- Apply knowledge of AI solutions and individual algorithms to identify the best approach to achieve targets.
- Develop and execute experiments, analyze results using statistical tests, and communicate findings to business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with security threat experts to understand cyberattack strategies and build security models.
- Evaluate how well models meet business objectives and define feedback and assessment strategies.
- Provide guidance on model operationalization and integration into the project approach.
- Utilize business acumen and technical expertise to provide feedback to the engineering team and identify potential future business opportunities.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical methods, and reporting results).
- 2+ years of programming experience in Python or Scala.
- Strong understanding of machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Information Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure AI, and Azure Machine Learning.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies.
