About the Role
As a Systems and Solutions Architect for High Performance Computing, you will play a critical role in driving the adoption of Google Cloud's HPC solutions and empowering our customers to achieve their goals. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, develop tailored solutions, and provide technical leadership to accelerate their success. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the HPC landscape and contribute to the development of groundbreaking technologies that transform industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their HPC requirements and develop solutions to drive their success, providing technical expertise and guidance to accelerate their adoption of Google Cloud's HPC solutions.
- Establish HPC performance expectations for new platforms and oversee the performance lifecycle through new platform deployment, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Identify key middleware, runtime systems, and frameworks used in HPC workloads (e.g., simulation, modeling, ML, analytics) and develop strategies for HPC readiness on Google Cloud, driving innovation and advancements in the field.
- Enable software improvements through external engineering engagements and community software contributions to key middleware and system software projects, fostering collaboration and driving progress.
- Partner with Engineering and Product Management teams to develop and execute technology strategies to enable the adoption of AI/ML in HPC workflows, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in data structures and algorithms.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software design and architecture, with a proven track record of testing and launching software products.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise.
- At least 10 years of experience in High Performance Computing, with a deep understanding of the HPC ecosystem and its applications.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role, leading project teams and setting technical direction, with a proven ability to drive results and inspire others.
- Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional and/or cross-business projects, with a strong ability to navigate diverse stakeholders and priorities.
- Familiarity with HPC ecosystem software, such as schedulers, orchestration systems, and HPC package management systems, with a strong understanding of their applications and limitations.
- Domain knowledge in a key HPC application area, such as CAE, EDA, FSI, Healthcare, Energy, or scientific computing, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in these fields.
