Key Responsibilities
• Tax Preparation & Review
• Prepare and review complex individual (1040), business (1120, 1120-S, 1065), and international tax returns under your PTIN
• Review returns prepared by junior team members for accuracy, compliance, and completeness
• Prepare and file sales tax returns across multiple states
• Resolve IRS and state tax authority notices and correspondence on behalf of clients
• Identify tax planning opportunities and communicate findings clearly to clients
• Ensure all filings comply with federal, state, and local tax regulations and IRS Circular230
Accounting
• Assist clients with bookkeeping reviews, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations
• Support clients with payroll tax compliance and reporting
• Review and advise on chart of accounts, expense categorization, and accounting accuracy
Business Incorporation & Advisory
• Assist clients with business entity formation including LLCs, S-Corps, and C-Corps
• Guide clients through EIN registration, operating agreements, and initial compliance requirements
• Advise on entity selection from a tax efficiency perspective
Client Management
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients
• Respond to client inquiries promptly and professionally within the same business day
• Communicate complex tax and accounting matters in clear, accessible language
• Manage client expectations on timelines, documentation requirements, and filing status
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in tax preparation and review in a professional firm setting
• Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) — required to prepare and sign returns
• Strong knowledge of federal and state individual and business tax law
• Experience preparing and reviewing Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and related schedules
• Proficiency with professional tax software (Drake, ProSeries, UltraTax, or equivalent)
• Fluency in English and French — both written and spoken — is required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client files simultaneously
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision
• Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional, distraction-free work environment within the United States
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA, EA (Enrolled Agent), or equivalent professional designation
• Fluency in Spanish is a strong additional asset
• Experience with international tax matters including FBAR, FATCA, or foreign income reporting
• Experience with sales tax compliance across multiple states
• Prior experience with business incorporation and entity formation
• Experience working with US expatriate clients or foreign nationals with US tax obligations
• Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior tax preparers
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
