About the position
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Technical Writer to support a large Intelligence Community environment. This role focuses on translating complex technical and operational concepts into clear, structured, and compliant documentation for proposals, programs, and communications. The ideal candidate combines strong writing expertise with the ability to structure, format, and visually present information in alignment with government RFP requirements. This role requires close collaboration with proposal teams, program managers, and technical SMEs to ensure high-quality, accurate, and compelling deliverables.
Responsibilities
• Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents that clearly communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders within the Intelligence Community.
• Collaborate with proposal and program teams to develop, format, and refine proposal content while ensuring compliance with RFP requirements.
• Perform rigorous editing, proofreading, and peer reviews to ensure clarity, consistency, and error-free documentation.
• Design and format documents, integrating text and visuals into cohesive, professional deliverables aligned with client standards.
• Create diagrams and visual aids (e.g., workflows, architectures) to enhance technical understanding.
• Develop and maintain templates, style guides, and standardized formats for proposals and technical materials.
• Assist in documenting and improving internal proposal and documentation processes.
• Maintain awareness of prior proposal materials and support the organization and reuse of approved content.
Requirements
• 2+ years of experience in technical writing, proposal development, or related field
• Active TS clearance (eligible for SCI with CI Poly)
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field
• Expert-level proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and syntax
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), Adobe Acrobat / Acrobat Pro, and Visio or similar tools
• Strong ability to structure and format technical content and integrate visuals effectively
• Understanding of government RFPs and source selection processes
• Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
• Able to commute to Reston, VA, 1-2 days/week when needed
Nice-to-haves
• Experience supporting DoW or Intelligence Community clients
• Experience in proposal development and desktop publishing in the federal space
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator
• Microsoft Office Specialist: Word Expert Certification
